What is Horology?

\"\"Horology is the science of time, timekeeping and timekeepers. A horologist is someone who specializes in the study of timekeeping devices such as clocks, chronometers and watches.

Horologists can work in research, developing the next generation of time pieces, or they can also be historians of horology. Most horologists actively work in the professional field, making, restoring and repairing timepieces of all shapes and sizes.

Becoming a watch or clockmaker is a time-consuming process. People typically train as apprentices in shops run by experienced horologists for many years. The specialized trade requires a very steady hand, a good eye, an attention to detail, and a tolerance for very finicky, precise work, which can also be extremely demanding.

HRS Clocks is committed to continuing this craft by passing on this important knowledge to the next generation of clockmakers. For more than thirty years, HRS Clocks has trained numerous horologists who began their trade as apprentices.
